What is Telemedicine?

Originally coined in the 1970s, which literally means: “Healing at distance” (1), Even though the term has changed in the past decades, The World Health Organization has adopted the following description:

(…)“The delivery of health care services, where distance is a critical factor, by all health care professionals using information and communication technologies for the exchange of valid information for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease and injuries, research and evaluation, and for the continuing education of health care providers, all in the interests of advancing the health of individuals and their communities” (2).(…)

On a Virtual Consultation, you can receive a diagnosis, learn your treatment options, and get a prescription sent to your nearest pharmacy. In cases where it’s necessary, any of our doctors can even monitor readings from medical devices remotely to keep an eye on your condition or admit you as an Emergency Patient in our AAAHC Surgical Center. In order to access any of the remote services offered at Capital Center ®, you will need to register as a New Patient. Naturally, doctors will need your Medical Health History so they can accurately assess your current condition and determine what treatment options you have available.
