Post Treatment Morpheus 8
- Do not apply anything on your skin for 24 hours to allow the treated areas to close – this includes sunscreen, post-treatment ointments or creams.
- The only things/products you can use immediately after are ice packs (please make sure it’s covered in something clean), Avene Thermal Spring Water (you can purchase online or Ultra), and Hyaluronic Acid (we particularly like Skin Medica’s HA5).
- If you used PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) you may go home with what’s left to use that evening. You may not use it the next day. Do not wash it off until the next day if you can tolerate it.
- For best results, use Skin Medica’s Post Procedure Power Duo. Do not use this or your post procedure serums, creams until after 24 hours.
- After 24 hours, you may use your post procedure sun screen (zinc oxide) and reapply every 2-3 hours. Avoid sun exposure as this may cause hyperpigmentations (dark spots). Wear sun protective clothing, hats.
- You can use post treatment ointments and creams after 24 hours up to day 7. You may use hyaluronic acid serums like HA5 by Skin Medica as needed in that 1st 24 hours. Wait one week to use makeup, then slowly re-introduce your skin regimen. If you’re using Lytera 2.0 from Skin Medica you can restart using it on Day 4 or 5.
- If we prescribed you Hydroquinone, continue using it after 4 days and continue using it nightly until your next treatment. Remember to restart it at least 2 weeks before your next appointment!
- Change your pillow case and bed sheets.
- Stay hydrated and clean your skin 2-3 times a day with a gentle cleanser.
- Use mild gentle cleansers like Cetaphil or Skin Medical’s Facial Cleanser. Do not use exfoliants.
- Sanitize your cell phone especially if you treated your face/neck. Use the phone speaker as much as you can until the micro wounds are completely closed.
- I recommend scheduling a maintenance treatment every 6 or 12 months to maintain your results. If you feel like you’d like to do more sessions after you complete the 3 sessions, talk to your provider.
- It is okay to resume using Ibuprofen, Advil, Naproxen after 3-4 days. If it is a prescribed anticoagulant, please ask your prescriber.
- Do not exercise for 24-48 hours. Do not use saunas or any extra heat for 5 days. No swimming or jacuzzi or water activities for 5 days.
What To Expect
- Immediately after your treatment, most patients experience a redness (erythema) for 1-3 days, however for more aggressive treatments, this can last longer. Slight to moderate swelling (edema) and mild to moderate sunburn sensation are also common post treatment and may last 1-3 days. Skin may crust and peel for 2-7 days depending on the treatment setting.
- Skin may feel warm and tighter than usual especially on the neck/chest areas.
- Skin may crust, peel, and itch for 3-7 days after treatment. Avoid touching the treated areas as much as you can.
- If you have darker skin, you may see little ‘dots’ for several weeks. The neck and body takes a long time to heal compared to the face.
– Multiple treatment sessions over a period of several months IS REQUIRED initially to achieve desired results. Typically for younger patients in their 20s, skin cell turnover happens every 28 days — longer if you’re older. Results vary patient to patient, however after your last session, its effects will continue to work for 3-6 months.
